Networking Fundamentals

Class name and code: CIST 1401 SP 2012 SB

This course introduces networking technologies and prepares the students to take CompTIA's broad-based, vendor independent networking certification exam, Network+. The class will cover a wide range of materials about networking, from careers in networking to Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), protocols, topologies, transmission media, and security. The course focuses on operating network management systems and implementing the installation of networks. The course will review cabling, connection schemes, the fundamentals of the LAN and WAN technologies, TCP/IP configuration and troubleshooting, remote connectivity, and network maintenance and troubleshooting.
