Welcome to the CGTC Cardiovascular Technology program page!
Cardiovascular Technology is a health technology profession centered on the diagnosis and treatment of patients with cardiac diseases. A cardiovascular technologist performs examinations at the request or under direct supervision of a physician, is proficient in the use of analytical equipment, and provides a foundation of data from which a correct anatomic and physiologic diagnosis may be made.
Cardiovascular technologist may pursue career opportunities within hospitals, physicians' offices, medical clinics, mobile outreach companies, cardiac equipment companies or research groups.
Our CVT program is a five semester Associates degree program currently offering two tracks: Echocardiography and Invasive Cardiac Catheterization. Students choose a track after completing the occupational courses and several observation opportunities.
Upon completion, students are eligible to sit for the national registry for Cardiovascular Technology in their chosen specialty. Acceptance into the program is via competitive selection at the end of Spring semester, courses beginning Fall semester. Please see Cardiovascular Technology Curriculum for more detailed information.
