Meet the Instructor
Macon Instructors
Alan Dorsey is one of our automotive technology evening instructors. Mr.
Dorsey is an Automotive Technology graduate from Central Georgia Technical College. He is a
Master Certified Technician from the National
Institute of Automotive Excellence. Mr. Dorsey has held several positions from front end
alignment technician to automotive repair business owner. He has been in the automotive
repair industry for over 17 years. Mr. Dorsey has been providing automotive training for
Central Georgia Technical College since 2009.
Joseph Michael Jernigan is one of our automotive technology evening
instructors. Mr. Jernigan is an Automotive Technology graduate from Central Georgia Technical
College. Mr. Jernigan is a Master Certified Technician and Undercar Specialist from the
National Institute of Automotive Excellence.
He has also achieved the Mercedes Benz Master Certification. He has specialized in the
Mercedes line of automobiles for over eight years and is currently the shop foreman at a
Mercedes dealership during the day. Mr. Jernigan has been providing automotive training with
Central Georgia Technical College since 2005.
Daniel Lyles is a daytime automotive technology instructor and the
Department Chair for the Trade and Industry programs at Central Georgia Technical College. Mr.
Lyles is a Master Certified Technician from the National Institute of Automotive Excellence. Mr. Lyles has been in the
automotive field for forty years. During this time he has held many positions from technician
to service manager and has worked for several car manufacturers. Mr. Lyles has also owned a
hot rod and custom fabrication shop and provided consultation for other automotive businesses.
Mr. Lyles has been providing automotive training with Central Georgia Technical College since
2005.
Milledgeville Instructors
Jasper Craig Copelan is a daytime automotive technology instructor. Mr.
Copelan has a BBA from Georgia College and State University. He is a certified technician in
Engine Repair, Automatic Transmission/Transaxle, Manual Drive Train and Axle, Suspension and
Steering, Brakes, Electrical/Electronic Systems, and Engine Performance from the National Institute of Automotive Excellence. Mr.
Copelan has worked in the transmission business for over seven years and has specialized in the
electronic side of automatic transmissions. He has been providing automotive training for
Central Georgia Technical College since 2008.
James Wilkes is a daytime automotive technology instructor. Mr. Wilkes is
the Automotive Program Chair for the Automotive Technology Program. He is an NRI Institute
graduate. Mr. Wilkes is a Master Certified Technician and Advanced Engine Performance through
the National Institute of Automotive Excellence.
He has specialized training in engine performance and electronics. Mr. Wilkes has worked in the
automotive field for 23 years with various car manufacturers as well as independently. He has
been providing automotive training since 1996 and has been with Central Georgia Technical
College since 2001.
